This sweater is probably one of the most challenging projects I’ve ever made, but the result was worth the effort! I had never worked overlay mosaic crochet before making this sweater. The stitches themselves are not challenging, and you only ever work with one colour per round, but the ability to read charts is an absolute must and the pattern commands your full attention—definitely not a project to work on while watching television. The pattern is unisex, written in eight different sizes based on chest circumference, but what I loved most is that the instructions are written based on measurements and not strictly by row numbers, which makes it easier to fit properly even if your gauge doesn’t fully match (like mine). I made a size 3 (M, 96 cm/38 inch finished circumference) but had to reduce the number of rows in the yoke (for fit) and sleeves (because I ran out of yarn). The finished piece is stunning, and I get compliments every time I wear it—especially when people find out it’s crochet!
