Starting November 9th, 2020, Kate and Kim will be hosting a guided knit-along to help you make your first top-down hat.
Join us! We’ll be doing Instagram Live videos every Monday at 7:30pm Eastern/4:30pm Pacific with demos and tutorials. And of course there’s going to be prizes! Kim is offering a hat-length skein of her naturally dyed yarn, Kate will be giving away the hat she makes in the KAL, and there’s three Founding Memberships up for grabs.

November 9: The first week, we’ll talk about yarn choice and provide tips for finding the perfect skein, whether you’re stash diving or shopping. We’ll also make sure you’ve got the tools you need. Kate will review the design options and show you how to measure the head you’re knitting for. Not sure who you’re knitting for? The book has standard size tables, and Kate will explain how to work with them.

November 16: We’ll cast on in the second week… and Kim is going to show us her crochet cast-on method, which she insists is faster and more fun than Kate’s knitting method. Once we’ve completed our WWE-style smackdown, Kate will get you going with the knitting.

November 23: In the third week, we’ll be knitting the body of the hat. We’ll talk about solutions for addressing any mistakes that might come up… And we’ll start planning ahead for the brim. I’ll review the available options so you can decide what you want to do.

November 30: In the last week, we’ll work on the cuff, and Kate will share a couple of methods for stretchy and tidy bind-offs. We’ll also talk a bit about what you can do with the recipe, how you can use it as a jumping off point for your creativity.
