Textile artist Francine McCabe was a guest on a recent episode of the CBC radio show North by Northwest, discussing her new book Fleece & Fibre: Textile Producers of Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, and pondering whether it’s possible to have truly local fabric and textiles.  Listen here.

This week in Toronto! On Saturday October 14th, the Textile Museum is hosting a free in-person workshop, Doodling on Denim with Azadeh. All skill levels and ages are welcome – no prior experience necessary. All materials are provided. Class size is limited; registration is required.

On Wednesday October 25th, Craft Ontario and Workshop Magazine are hosting a free online workshop on the vitally important topic of Grant Funding for artists. More information and registration here.

Sunday October 15th, Winnipeg’s C2 Center for Craft hosts their annual Craft DeStash Sale. Changing Hands 2023 is a sale of pre-loved, hand-crafted items and craft materials, tools and supplies all in support of the C2 Centre for Craft and our ongoing activities to promote local craft!

Included in the sale is a remarkable collection of 1950s and 1960s-era fabric, hand woven by Marion Martin. 

This weekend, October 13th and 14th, visit the WinterGreen Fine Craft Market at the Queensbury Convention Centre in Regina.

Tuesday October 17th, Winnipeg’s C2 Center for Craft is hosting Adriana Alarcón for a talk about Craftivism.

Craft Nova Soctia’s Annual Designer Craft Show takes place November 17-19 at Pavilion 22, 1031 Marginal Rd, Halifax.

That same weekend, in Yellowknife, visit the Weledeh Christmas Craft sale.
