Goodness. How to say goodbye to Digits & Threads. I don’t know that I can, at least not in fewer than 3,000 words.
I just want to say thank you. Thank you to our contributors. Thank you to all our members and supporters. Thank you to Zoe Desborough for their brilliant enthusiasm and marketing support. Thank you to Michelle Woodvine, who has been part of Digits & Threads right from the start—first as a contributor, then as a hugely important behind-the-scenes member of the team, as our copy editor. And she stepped up to be the editor of Digits & Threads when I wasn’t able to. It has been a delight to work with Michelle, I learned so much from her, and I value her friendship.
But most of all, a million thanks are due to Kim Werker, my co-founder. This was Kim’s idea; I’m so grateful she brought me into it, so grateful that she made me her business partner. And I’m particularly grateful for her understanding when I had to step away earlier this year. This collaboration has been life-changing in so many ways: I learned so much, met so many wonderful people, had my horizons broadened. I will miss it so much.
It’s not, of course, a permanent goodbye. Nine Ten Publications lives on, as a book publisher. Heck, you’ll even see my name on the list of authors. I can’t wait to see the business flourish and grow. I’m so excited that Kim gets to build the business she wants, and that she gets to fulfill long-held ambitions.
Digits & Threads was founded with the goal of learning more about the Canadian textile and fibre arts space, and telling stories of Canada to the world. I can confidently say we achieved that. And Nine Ten Publications will continue to get the word out about the artists and businesses here in this wonderful country. I hope you continue to follow along—I know I will!
